Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! – Well this name is quite the mouth full.

The title of this anime pretty much tells you everything you need to know. A legit game that is very, very, very terrible. In the start I believed this was going to be interesting and believe me – it was, but not in the way I was hoping it would have been. This series to me was weird and while I am happy that the author, Light Tuchihi, got an adaptation for his light novel I am sad I did not enjoy it more.

I truly did expect a lot out of it. The plot was there, the ideas were good and the characters seemed solid enough. Though the series just felt smushed together. In the start. Hiroshi Yuuki was a high school track star until he, well… wasn’t (I’ll let you find out why.) After he gave that up he jumped into VR and later meets this girl who tricks him into buying “said shitty game” from x amount of years ago.

The real series pretty much takes place after that.

While there are a few more things I did dislike, I would rather talk about what I enjoyed now. One thing I have to admit is that art in this anime was beautiful… At least during more peaceful or focused scenes that is. Also I fell in love with Reona’s eyes! they were just so colorful and beautiful.

There was also fanservice, not high school DxD level, but it was there. The fanservice was limited to Reona and Mizarisa (see below), but I believe the amount these two gave off made up for the lack of it elsewhere in the series.

The anime wasn’t really about fanservice anyway, so I was not focused on looking for it, rather I was more interested in learning about the world, the characters and seeing how the story would unfold. Seeing your typical MC not be OP in a series like this where most of the time the MC is OP was quite strange.

I enjoyed it, but didn’t at the same time. It almost feels wrong to dislike it, but it was something original, new and I wanted to accept it.

Overall I do not believe I could play a game that makes real life seem like heaven. I want to play a game to relax and have a good time which this game does not allow (depending on how you look at it). I mean could you imagine getting hurt and actually feeling it? or having a wound in the game take three real days to heal? Not to mention anything you do in the game is permanent unless you go buy a new system.

I swear the amount of realism is insane and the fact it’s mixed with a fantasy world makes it even shittier. I mean imagine being isekai-ed without all the magical benefits of being isekai-ed. That’s what this game is. Real life on steroids or better yet – crack!

The series was a hit or miss with me at the end of the day. I didn’t fully dislike it, but I didn’t fully like it either. If they come out with a season two would I watch it? yes, because it was a fun anime and I would love to see him actually beat the game like Souichirou Kamui did.
